On a beautiful day in St George's Basin, we installed three wicking beds against the fence line for a retired couple looking to maximise growing in a sunny spot.

The slope necessitated three beds at staggered levels, to keep a good water level in the subterranean water reservoir stored in each bed.

Sloping blocks are common on the South Coast, and staggering raised beds down the fall of the land, as we did at St Georges Basin, keeps each reservoir level while making a tidy run of productive beds. A sunny fence line like this one should reward a retired couple well.

With the reservoirs doing the watering, the beds stay productive across the seasons with little effort. The kiln-dried, food-safe timber is made to last for years, even out on an exposed, sloping block.
