Possibly the first of many, this young couple in Helensburgh wanted to grow vegetables in a sunny spot against their fence.

All our beds have a subterranean water reservoir so it's important they are level, In this case the ground was sloped considerably, so we dug out to the correct level before building.

The customer was pleased with the result as it turned an unusable area into good growing space.


On the edge of the Royal National Park at Helensburgh, blocks often slope, and getting a raised bed dead level is what lets the reservoir wick properly. Done well, as here, it turns an unusable slope into good growing space and is usually the first of more beds to come.
