A forward-thinking teacher at Mount Terry Public School ordered three of our wicking beds to use as a hands-on teaching tool. It's the kind of project we love — a school turning a patch of ground into a living classroom where students learn by growing real food rather than just reading about it.

The three raised beds give a school like Mount Terry plenty of room for whole classes to get involved at once. Each is built from kiln-dried, vegetable-grade timber with our food-safe iron-oxide finish — no cheap CCA pine near where the students grow their food — fully lined and filled with our custom-blended organic growing medium so the beds produce well from the first season.

The real advantage for a school is the watering, or rather the lack of it. Each bed stores its water in a sealed reservoir in the base, and the plants draw it up from below as they need it.
