A gentleman on an acreage at Albion Park wanted two beds, and to keep gardening comfortable he chose the tallest model we make — 0.85m high, so there's no stooping and no sore back at the end of a session. With unobstructed north sun on an open rural block, these beds should be extremely productive over time.

Open acreage like this gets the kind of full, all-day light that vegetables love, and tall raised beds make the most of it while bringing the soil up to a comfortable working height. Being wicking beds, they hold water in a reservoir below and feed it up to the roots, so through the warm Illawarra months the garden keeps producing even when a few days pass between waterings.

There's room across the two beds for a broad mix — tomatoes, beans, brassicas, leafy greens, root veg and herbs — with a built-in composter to keep the soil fed from the property's own scraps. Raised and self-contained, they also keep the growing clear of the heavier ground and any run-off from the wider block.

We build from kiln-dried, vegetable-grade timber with a food-safe finish, made to stand years of open weather on a rural property. If you've got acreage around Albion Park, Yallah or the Illawarra and want tall, easy-to-work beds that crop well, we'd be glad to help you design them.
