Other Timber Raised Beds Crack and Twist

Most landscapers use cheap treated pine sleepers to build garden beds.

Whilst this might look OK at first, it is sold "wet" , which makes it particularly unstable.

Treated pine warps and cracks over time. Screw loosen, boards twist and sag, corners go out of square. Colours fade. And arsenic based preservative leaches out.

Safe, Solid and Look Good for Years

However we build our wicking beds out of a stable, kiln dried timber. We over-engineer each joint to ensure everything stays aligned and locked in place for years to come. We take into account timber expansion and seal ends appropriately.

And what's more our timber has been treated with a safe, vegetable friendly natural preservative and iron oxide, which looks good for years to come.

Why does this matter beyond looks? Cheap treated pine is sold wet and full of CCA preservative. As it dries it twists, splits and pulls its screws, and over the years arsenic-based chemicals can leach into the very soil you’re growing food in. A bed that looked fine on install day can be sagging and unsafe within a couple of seasons.

We install a lot of raised garden beds in Schools in NSW - it is therefore highly important that safe and stable materials are used.

Our beds are built from stable, kiln-dried timber, treated with a food-safe natural preservative and iron oxide, and over-engineered at every joint so corners stay square for years. That longevity is exactly why schools, aged-care facilities and quality-focused homeowners choose us — a bed that’s built once and built right is cheaper, safer and better looking than one you replace every few years.
