A passionate sustainable gardener up in St Ives wanted to make the best use of a sunny corner of the front yard.

An L-shaped bed gave a good growing area, and we put wider capping on the front to provide a bench seat.

The entire bottom of the bed comprises wicking cells which allow just the right amount of water to reach the vegetable roots from the deep reservoir in the base of the bed.

The larger, bushy blocks of St Ives and the Upper North Shore have room for a serious vegetable garden, and an L-shaped bed with a built-in seat makes a generous, comfortable one. For a committed gardener, it is plenty of space to grow a wide range across the seasons.
