We were thrilled when an existing customer invited us back to install a small self watering herb bed.
The bed was to be deck mounted for easy access from the kitchen, and to take advantage of a suntrap on the deck stairs.
Previously, pots had been placed there but the extreme heat meant watering was a challenge.
This bed is hose fillable a few weeks after rainfall and will give the herbs all the water and nutrition they need to thrive!
On the compact decks and courtyards typical of Maroubra, a self-watering planter is far more reliable than pots, which struggle to hold enough water in the coastal heat. Sitting in a suntrap and watering itself from the reservoir below, it keeps fresh herbs and salad thriving right at the back door.
It is a tidy, low-effort way to grow in a small space. Kiln-dried and food-safe, the timber is built to last years on an exposed deck. If pots on your Maroubra or Eastern Suburbs deck keep drying out, we'd love to set you up with a self-watering planter that doesn't.
