We were commissioned in early 2022 to build 8 wicking beds in Bargo, NSW.

Double height wicking beds were requested. At 85cm tall, these are perfect for gardening without getting a bad back! And it's a lot further for the snails and slugs to travel. They don't like living on the dry surface of our beds.

A trellis will be added to the back two beds furthest from the sun to allow taller veg to take advantage of the sun without casting shade. Great for cucumbers, beans, snow peas or even sweet potato.

We can't wait to see photos of these beds bursting with home grown vegetables.

Open rural blocks like this one at Bargo have room for a big garden, and tall raised beds make a large growing area comfortable to work without bending. In the Macarthur and Highlands climate, a self-watering bed holds its water through the hot summers so a sizeable garden stays manageable.

With the trellised beds catching sun for taller crops, there is room to grow a broad range. Kiln-dried and food-safe, the timber is built to last years out on a country block.
